Finally have some downtime to write things about some recent shows I've been watching and such and write up a few life updates on my end. All of this will be relatively spoiler free, except for my To Be Hero X Ramblings, since it's a bit difficult to talk about without delving into the individual episodes.

Also; might be incoherent or confusing; I'm consistently half asleep when I'm writing down this entry since I started late at night then immediately upon waking up.

Recent Show Impressions

To Be Hero X:

Episode 1 Impressions:
So first thing out of the way for me personally that is pretty inescapable for everyone talking about it is how FAST the pace is for the first Episode, which is a sentiment that I echo. Not a bad thing (And I Will say, despite skipping over a training montage, I think it's very clear WHY it got skipped over and where the actual points of tension are meant to be had), and I Don't feel like I'm forgetting anything by reflecting on my feelings from sensory overwhelm, but due to what is presented, I would hope for some downtime to allow reflection of the characters and themes?

Since The thing is, Not only are the concepts and themes absolutely fascinating and right up my alley, I do strongly think if handled and explored correctly, this could easily become a new classic for the superhero genre. I Do quite like Hope vs Despair As themes, but the forces presented are Trust vs Fear, which is intensely grounded and a reflection of life as it is, just simply with a magical take on it.

It's interesting how excessive, public trust is what makes someone into a hero to others. Sure, everyone can become a hero, but you're still expected to fit the pre-existing, sellable molds of what a hero is, and how you can only maintain the idea of being a hero to others by adapting and being almost a celebrity and relevant and sort. A lot of good thoughts on these concepts I can't put well into words at the time of writing this section up, but, wow, it's really something I Want to sink my teeth into and hope gets explored. One could brush this all off as being "society" ala the Joker, but I think there is something here to say, and I'd like it to be said!

There were a few things I did predict in it narratively, but predictability is more a reflection of my own media consumption experiences than any quality metric. Just mentioning this because I feel this might be magical to experience for a teenager.

And of course, The mix of 3d and 2d animation is absolutely gorgeous, especially with not just sticking for one style for the 2d Animation. Hoping for the best on all fronts, but I'll keep my expectations tempered on this front, as I do have reason to believe that the themes won't be explored too heavily as I just gushed about, but we'll see when I get to Episode 2.

Episode 2 Impressions:
Yeah so all of my concerns were basically addressed in this episode, and I'll try to keep an eye on this, albeit not my highest priority. I'm still not sold on if the pacing has settled down, and small nitpick, but I didn't like how the plans behind the wedding was hidden from the viewer, since I think the addressing it beforehand, alongside adding lines of "You're deviating from the script" afterwards Would've had the same impact given how the episode opens up. I get it was done to give a breather from the action, but eh, a bit more and it could've been fine I think.

Still, Lin and Moon's interactions were pretty cute; You have someone who doesn't feel they have an easy way out of the role they just stepped into, versus someone who is screaming to get out of her role. Their friendship contrasted to Nemesis, who wanted to know about what happened to his actualy friend Nice is such a good choice too. I Actually do really like Moon's handling in this episode too; it really did feel as if she was mostly meant to be a prop to Nice over her actual person, and to see her being fed up with it, it's kind of poetic.

On that note, The fact that 1. People's Belief in how super heroes powers should work actively changes them as well, and 2. A lot of heroes (And conversely, villains) being Industry Plants is pretty neat to me over the idea of Natural born Talent. Kind of wondering if the Fear organization we're seeing is just a shadowy part of the Hero company? We'll see.

By the way, since I'm reading this once over: The thing I meant on my Episode 1 themes not being too heavily explored: I'm talking about the lack of discussion regarding the tight deadlines for Nice's company. Surely that should've been addressed, or had a statement be made, especially since Episode 2 ends with Trust tanking for Enlightener, but that is ultimately small potatoes or it'll come up later. I Guess people not caring is pretty realistic to real life.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Episode 1:

Oh you thought the title just meant recent shows? You fell for my trick. Actually, I don't tend to watch recent things too much, since I like to get a feel for how they are after they air, since I think hype and the overall need to fit in can cloud public judgement. This is moreso about shows I've recently seen, and this anime is about to be 20 years old soon, isn't it. Which did shock me given the animation of it; you could tell me that this came out in 2008, or even early 2010's and I'd believe you. I Do think given the impact, even if seemingly less relevant today, I definitely should watch what does feel like a pretty important part of modern anime culture?
Anyways, it's pretty cute so far, and I did get a few chuckles from it towards the second half of the episode with Haruhi assembling the club. The rapport between Kyon and Haruhi is really fun, where they seem to try to reach each others wavelenghts, even unintentionally. Not much to say so far, but not really a bad thing, can't wait to see how things progress, and I am very excited to get to the parts that really connected with people as strongly as it did.

Cinderella Gray Episode 2:

Skipped out on writing up some Episode 1 impressions when it first came out, but hopefully it is obvious that from immediately adding an Oguri icon to my journal that I think the anime adaptation is great so far. The manga I already absolutely adore (And I do think overall, CinGray is one of the strongest pieces in Uma Musume's Catalogue).

I love the more washed out color palette compared to the other Uma Musume anime entries, it kind of feels like it's meant to resemble being from an older era of horse racing (A detail that didn't click with me until the April Fools trailer that made it look like an older anime), but it could also be because it's meant to represent how the general area is meant to be overlooked in a lot of ways. Which, I do hope it isn't the latter since the way saturation is used for emphasis, especially during the race scenes, is phenomenal.

It's really nice to watch Oguri in her early steps as a racer again; from how she sees racing changing and her charm of being a bit socially awkward not changing. Maybe when Cingray ends I'll try to write an analysis of her? Who knows.

General Life updates

Anyways, if it wasn't clear from the intro line alone, I've gotten a responsibility cleared up with my contract work, but I Won't feel confident in saying that I'm fully able to breathe until one other project gets signed off on that I've been incredibly anxious about due to admittedly fumbling a lot of it and misunderstanding a lot. Definitely will be excited when I do have downtime as a whole, as I'd like to work on a few more features after planning out the UI for them and hopefully grow a bit more into other positions.

I Do have a few other things I need to get to over the weekend, but having some creative downtime might be nice, since I feel like my desire to code for myself is getting drained a bit truthfully since I just want to do, well, rotting activities I'll call them to be nice. I'm also going to be considering how to set up a professional site for myself soon, and do have a few things in mind I'd like to add to it, so hopefully that works out well when I get there; will see, I definitely am just using this weekend to relax for a bit. May look into using Vite and ReactJS for it, but I'll need to plan out the tools before making a choice on that.

Been drawing a bit more digitally lately, but I've mostly been doing anatomy studies or Low effort doodles. Might get those posted later, but I am a tad shy about posting them. I do need to work on clothing folds over anatomy but augh, I do really think my anatomy needs work. Especially on my faces; I don't know how I'd be happiest drawing people.

Lastly, on the topic of art, I got this really lovely art from shimimori of Harasaki and a dear friend's OC (Isaac, Red Hair), who I may try to nudge into joining Dreamwidth as well? (Since she really loves posting about her OCs and drabbles and such, but a lot of the sites and such she uses don't paticularly permit for the long form posting her ideas are owed, alongside being more accessible for her writing than just being relegated to screenshots.)

They actually have a pretty strained relationship and tend to bring out the worst in each other, and expectedly and inevitably, had a pretty horrible falling out. I love the shade under both of their eyes for this reason. The striking colors he used as well, absolutely lovely work!
